This work is a metaphorical exploration of survival in the post-war era. Inspired by the displaced migrants who lost their official identities under the East Asian colonial expansion of the Japanese Empire during WWII, the performance delves into the existential state of those stripped of their time and space. Within a metaphorical world of statelessness, national borders, and sacred rituals, we examine the blurred lines between the human and the divine.

Imagines a fictional condition affecting only women — the ability to detach head and wander from the body. The descendants of these wandering-headed women have scattered across countries and cities, carrying the condition across generations. The story becomes a metaphor for the Chinese diaspora experience: a people living in a state of cultural and historical severance — head and body forever apart.

​Hemiplegia draws from the Mohist account of Yu the Great's punitive campaign against the Miao — a war waged in the name of justice. Taking the body as a metaphor for the state, the work asks what it means to live in an age when war never truly ends: is what remains a survival, a resurrection — or a world condemned to permanent paralysis?
